The First 14 Days
Active Tissue Reconstruction Begins
Healing begins immediately. The first fourteen days establish the biological foundation for everything that follows.
This is the body's most active period of tissue reconstruction. During these early days, tremendous biological resources are directed toward protecting treated tissues, restoring stability, and creating the structural framework that will support every stage of healing to come.
The body's earliest priorities include regulating inflammation, restoring healthy circulation, delivering oxygen and nutrients, producing collagen, and coordinating the complex processes of tissue repair. Although much of this activity occurs beneath the surface, it provides the essential framework upon which long-term healing depends.
Swelling, bruising, warmth, tissue firmness, and changes in comfort are common during this stage and often reflect the body's normal healing response rather than the final outcome. Because newly healing tissues remain especially vulnerable, physicians may recommend temporary activity restrictions and other protective measures designed to support these critical early stages of recovery.
The first fourteen days shape the healing journey that follows. The framework established during this period continues to influence tissue strength, collagen remodeling, biological adaptation, and long-term maturation throughout the months ahead. The body begins by rebuilding the foundation—then spends the months that follow strengthening, refining, and optimizing it.
